Since he was a child Tim Stolkey had dreamed of writing and playing music. In mid 2003 Tim started making his dream a reality with his good friend Dan Reott. The two started writing a blend of alternative and melodic rock together and playing acoustic shows with Dan providing the lead vocals. The two soon added Tim's brother Pat on drums and SWAY was born.

After much practice and anticipation the three got their first break in late 2003 at a small venue in downtown Ann Arbor, MI called "The Club Above". After the first show the decision was made to bring on another guitarist, so the call was made to New Mexico native Issac Pacheco and on March 3rd, 2004 the first appearance of the full band was made at "The Club Above".

In late summer of 2004, in their first studio appearance, a three song demo entitled "You've Been Swayed" was released. While the band was happy to have music recorded, they weren't quite satisfied with the quality that the demo provided and didn't think that it accurately represented who they were. After a few more shows the group decided it was time to start focusing on making an album that would show exactly what the sound of SWAY was.

Although a couple of "learning experiences" with a few recording studios set back the project, the band finally hooked up with Cloud City Studios out of Redford, MI in the spring of 2005 and began work on their first full length album. The album, entitled Still..., was released in July 2005 with great reviews from around the area.

The fall of 2005 was big for the band as a full tour was set for the promotion of their debut album. Eastern Michigan University had SWAY headline their Homecoming Week 2005 and TC's Speakeasy scheduled the band to headline their annual "Back To School Bash". They co-headlined an amazing show at the Magic Bag in Ferndale and most notably opened for San Francisco based group LUCE and Chicago legend Paris Delane at the world famous Blind Pig in September.

In January of 2006 SWAY brought veteran bass player Nate Ennis to the band to round-out the groups sound and give one person the clear cut bass duties. Late 2006 saw the band head back into the studio to begin work on their second album. The band again used Nick Morris to engineer, co-produce and mix the album while Greg Richards is producing it. Brad Blackwood of Euphonic Masters (Evanescence, Sister Hazel, Train, will.i.am, Nine Days) was been brought on to do the mastering on all the new music. Just in time to help complete the album lead guitarist Ivan Graham replaced Issac Pacheco in early spring of 2007 rounding out the current SWAY profile. On February 5th of 2008 Moments Of Bliss, SWAY's sophomore album, was released. The album includes nine full length songs and again emphasized the unique creativeness that the band manages to capture with each song.

While focusing on their ever growing careers and even though they are still known as a local band, the group has found charity work to be an important cause worthy of playing more than a few shows for. The band has played benefit shows for the Henry Ford Vattikuti Urology Institute, Special Olympics, cancer research for AM 1270, Seedlings braille books, and through a three show Tour For Tots they raised over 500 new toys for the Marines' Toys For Tots program.

A vast array of influences ranging from Matchbox Twenty to Nirvana, and a focus on making music that emphasizes the unique vocals and captivating lyrics makes it easy to see why the band has created such a devout following in such a short time. Once you hear the music and listen to the lyrics it's hard to not get hooked by their sound. Already becoming a household name around the Ann Arbor area, this is only the beginning of what promises to be a successful career for this band. An original sound with a familiar flavor makes SWAY an act you sure don't want to miss!!
